Given that Adam and Eve had no daughters, why didn't their family die out?

why the Greek philosophers had sex with young boys. We are living in the 21 century and we moved on a bit, don't you think?

Maybe it was protocol for upstarts. Maybe God told him to, maybe for political reasons, how about physical attractions or making sure she was 'taken care of.' Whatever it was, I'm sure he had a very good reason. Without that reason, he wouldn't have had a following to this day. He would've only had scoffers. Many people these days don't care what the real reason is. B. Young and Joe Smith of Mormon fame had some problems with that sort of thing too, we are much more aware of it now. America made it illegal because of them and their disgruntled wives. To each his own, huh?

Hi there. because he wanted to, because he had the power and 12 was considered a reasonable age of consent at the time. In large parts of the Muslim world, they still do this kind of thing - there was a case of an English Muslim girl being sold to a man in Bangladesh for marriage only a few weeks ago, and she was only 11. Get them young and alone and they are easier to train, is the rationale. regards, Steve.

1. She was of marriageable age. 2. She was not already married. 3. For whatever reason, it pleased him to marry her. Beyond those three statements, all else is speculation. Unless you have a time machine to go back and ask him, or can find someone who asked him and is still alive today, you have no reliable sources. It's an interesting question, because it implies many social biases - 1. huge difference in age, 2. 12 is deemed too young to get married in many societies, 3. 'close' relatives should not marry - a niece is a brother's/sister's child, therefore very close genetically.... those are the ones that come readily to mind. However, bottom line, it's very dangerous to judge historical behaviors through the lens of today's society. historical behaviors need to be understood in the context of the times when they occurred.
